Become a CPB partner
The Center for Predictive Bioresilience is making Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s high performance computing resources available to dedicated partners in DOE, academia, and industry for biological research. Learn how we work with our partners to extend and refine our unique approach to medical countermeasure design.
Overview
The Center for Predictive Bioresilience (CPB) is an interdisciplinary group focused on using high performance computing and experimental platforms to accelerate research timelines. CPB is integrating computational and laboratory capabilities to accelerate the design of medical countermeasures, such as vaccines and therapeutics, to be on the order of weeks instead of years. We are also developing improved predictive models to create early warning systems for the purpose of avoiding the next pandemic. CPB is LLNL’s hub for collaboration between computational and experimental biology.
Our Research
The Center for Predictive Bioresilience’s unique approach to research and development brings the power of high-performance computing models to develop countermeasures for existing and emerging biological threats. Our current research areas include:
Preventing the next pandemic
Researchers are working to identify and respond to new biothreats more quickly and effectively. Learn more about how they’re using an innovative mix of advanced simulation and machine learning to develop drugs that can disarm existing biothreats and be optimized to address emergent ones.
Making better decisions through data
The Center for Predictive Bioresilience is working to build out data ecosystems to promote cutting-edge collaborations. Backed by the Laboratory’s high-performance computing hardware, the CPB hopes to create an inclusive environment where data is accessible to external partners as well as researchers inside LLNL.
CPB resources
The Center for Predictive Bioresilience (CPB) brings together biotechnology, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence to quickly identify emerging biothreats and create effective countermeasures. This integrated capability draws from decades of experimentally validated computational models.
CPB sponsors
Whether natural or man-made, biological threats are a serious and growing national security concern. Our sponsors are committed to combatting biothreats with world-class computing resources, experimental capabilities, and exceptional staff.
